Color of Independent Lens
Black and white dominate the screen with the complementary colors blue and orange to highlight. The black background of the site creates a striking contrast between the white background of the content, making the content stand out. I think Leatrice Eiseman says it best when she says, “complementary colors literally ‘complete’ each other…blue is at its bluest juxtaposed with tones of orange” (Curtis, 150). Set on a white background, the orange headings and the blue links catch the eye and help the user to easily differentiate between the titles, text, and links. Barely blue backgrounds and grey headings distinguish each clip and allow the user to think of each part of the page as a separate entity. The colors are simple and work together well to convey the theme of Independent Lens.
