Typography of Independent Lens

The Web Style Guide states: “Typography plays a dual role as both verbal and visual communication.” (Typography) Although Independent Lens uses completely sans-serif fonts, a user can easily distinguish between headings, video descriptions, and links.  Horton and Lynch remind us that “some users cannot distinguish colors” and because of that, web designers should “use bold formatting as well as color” (Emphasis).  Independent Lens primarily uses orange, black, and blue for its text, and uses different font styles for each color.  The text on this site is simple, easy to read, and broken into succinct sentences.  The fonts and colors are not distracting, but rather work together easily and help to reinforce the integrity and easy elegance that is associated with Independent Lens.
