Web site Analysis
Color
Color is a powerful tool and is an important feature in web site design. Color determines how effective a web site communicates to its visitors, conveys the mood and theme, and emphasizes certain sections within a web page. Leatrice Eiseman of the Eiseman Center for Color writes, color “adds value and meaning to communication, giving life to the visual message, intensifying it, making it more identifiable and important"(Curtis 147). I am Second uses complementary colors of black and white, which are consistent throughout the site, pink is an accent color(figure 1.1). Pink is used to highlight links and important information; gray is applied to some of the text. The web style guide states: “black text on a white background yields the best overall type contrast and legibility” (Graphics markup).

Although the colors on the home page appear to be the same, in fact, they are not. Instead, there are several shades of black, pink and gray found throughout the site. Adobe Dreamweaver code theses colors as (black #000000, #040503; pink #D7136A, #D81363; gray #4C4E4Bd, #2C2E2B). Color also provokes psychological responses and is associated with moods and feelings. The color pink evokes a range of emotions from feelings of love and calamity. This color is symbolic for love, romance, and femininity. The color black is bold and represents power, strength and elegance, and is symbolic for sophistication. Color has a large impact on web site design and can affect a sites success. I am Second uses bold colors such as black and pink as the sites primary colors, these two colors combined are memorable, vibrant, and eye catching.
