Katharine Green, director of Corporate Communications at Zyvex Corporations believes that in order to make your message clear, you have to use type correctly (Curtis 153).  I am Second uses sans serif font which is consistent throughout the site.  The web style guide states “nothing attracts the eye and brain of the reader like strong contrast and distinctive patterns “(Legibility).  This theory is evident in the I am Seconds web site; the organizations heading on the homepage is sans serif, bold, and italicized, this stands out on the page and is legible.  The text reflects that of graffiti art which is bold and striking (figure 1.9).  The links at the bottom of the page are highlighted in pink and the font style is Arial, bold.  The links located at the top of the page uses white text against a black background and combines regular text with italics, when the cursor is placed over the text the color changes to pink.  “Black backgrounds are significantly less legible than white backgrounds, even when white type is used for maximum contrast” (Graphics markup)

The chunked text in the site is sans serf font, gray, on a white background, with links highlighted in pink and underlined.  This style of text and color makes it difficult to read; the pink highlighting is distracting and makes it difficult to understand the literature (figure 1.10).  The subheading blends with the white background, causing the text to be unreadable.  The links located at the bottom of the page interferes with the context, blocking out some of the text, which makes it difficult to translate the message.
