Web site Analysis
Graphics
People use the phrase “pictures are worth a thousand words”; graphics on the web are pictorial representations of data. Graphics are important in producing a web site that’s attractive to the eyes and appealing to the senses. Graphics on the web add color to a page and provides visuals for brands, products, companies and people. “The primary web file formats are GIF, JPEG, and to a much lesser extent PNG files” (Graphic File Format). I am Second uses JPEG and GIF file format to display graphics on their web page. Photographs displayed on this page are in JPEG file format and the map displayed is in GIF file format (figure 1.4, 1.5 & 1.6). “Web designers could build a site without graphics, most users would not readily recognize a collection of bare pages as a cohesive “site”, and such a site would seem unpleasantly odd, well outside of design norms and user expectations” (Graphics). When graphics are applied correctly to a web site they add to the attractiveness of that site. I am Second use of graphics enhances the visitors experience and compliments the site overall theme and appeals to its audience.

Multimedia
The web is diversified with all types of multimedia; live television streaming, photos, internet radio, images and animation. Multimedia has become one of the means for delivering valuable content through the World Wide Web. The ability to combine text, graphic, moving images and sound has become one of the most powerful aspects of computing (Multimedia). I am Second applies multimedia to their site through the use of audio and video (figure 1.7). These images are clearly defined in their role on the web and contributes to sites overall theme, design, and concept. The web style guide states that web designers should “use images, animation, video, and sound only when they are relevant to your message” (Multimedia). I am second also uses flash animation to display a series of still graphics in rapid sequence, giving the images an illusion of motion (figure 1.8). Web sites are visually attractive when animated images are applied to web pages. All of these elements combined work together to create interactivity. "Although there are many methods for delivering web multimedia, web designers should use technology that works for the great majority of client machines" (Multimedia).
