The vibe of the site is very "earthy" and cool. There are barely any uses of cool colors such as blue or purple. And the use or warm colors is really limited down to red, which is only used to complement the green. The "beige" color is used as the color of the notebook which is the area where content is displayed. The text is all colored a darker brown, quite darker when put against the beige.
Behind the background picture, the site uses this color as a background color. The Web Style Guide notes that you should never use dark colors for backgrounds because it sometimes makes it hard for the view to read the site. But with the addition of the background picture (see Figure 4.1)on every page, the clarity and visibility of the text is made easier.
