Theme
“Themes can communicate so much deeper than literal message. As designers we have an opportunity to draw attention to theme through our designs. Every product has a theme, every company, every brand,” (Curtis 41).
In this case, Aviary.com focuses on birds. First, an aviary is defined by Dictionary.com as a large cage or a house or enclosure in which birds are kept. With Aviary as the name of the site, the creative tools being named after birds, and images of various bird related objects (such as eggs and birds) throughout the site, I have come to the conclusion that the theme of the site is revolved around birds. A bird signifies freedom, so spreading your wings and exploring the opportunities to create a masterpiece is the theme that best suits the site.
The birds convey a message to designers to be inspired and fly to new heights with their creations. Aviary is a mere shelter for their creations. Aviary shelters and also provides the essential tools needed to develop these works of art much like a mother goose shelters and provides for her chicks.
