Purpose: Web Site Analysis |
| |
As a requirement for Dr. Spence’s CMS 3710 class at Clayton State University, students are required to evaluate an award winning or an award nominated website based on specific criteria drawn from the Web Style Guide by Horton and Lynch, and Making the Invisible Visible by Hillman Curtis. In terms of project specificity as it relates to the evaluation and presentation of this project, Dr. Spence added additional criteria which can be found on his online syllabus. This evaluation, including specific criteria predetermined by Dr. Spence, includes but is not limited to a student-built web site to showcase the evaluated web site selected by the student, with no fewer than twelve written paragraphs of evaluation, and complete with illustrative graphics, links to source material, and links to the evaluated website. In addition, the student-built web site is required to be aesthetically appealing while at the same time professional in appearance as determined by color, font, layout, and navigational links as well as other minute specified criteria. This web project is dedicated to fulfilling the requirements for what is titled “Project 2: Web Site Analysis”, and which details my evaluation of In Remembrance based on the criteria Dr. Spence set forth for the project. |

In Remembrance serves as an online memorial for United States military personnel who have lost their lives in the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. For each person who has lost their life in the war, there is a picture if available, a short summary of life, cause and date of death, and links to online obituaries if available. There is a section devoted to Moving Tributes which includes photographs, text, and audio as a way to honor those who have given their lives in the war. The site includes a search engine which searches for deceased soldiers by name and branch of the military. Also available is a browse option which includes the option to browse by alphabetical order of name, state, rank, branch of military, base, date and/or location of incident. Links are also provided to other online memorial sites.
