According to Curtis, designers need to know who their audience is and what their audience wants (76). For PFYM, their audience is diverse but the one trait they share in common is that they are familiar with the internet. The site specifically targets women, preferably in their 20s-30s. PYFM is hosted on the BlogHer network which targets women who are interested in social media and want to find blogs or other published content that BlogHer feels is relevant to the woman of today. PYFM follows the guidelines given by Horton and Lynch by identifying the desired audience and by structuring a site that meets their needs (Planning). The community is able to comment on each entry and relate their own experiences to each other in a simple, direct way.

However, PYFM attracts more than just twenty-something women. The site’s humor extends to anyone who has had the pleasure/displeasure of receiving texts or e-mails from concerned mothers or grandmothers who are unfamiliar with digital communication. PYFM does discriminate their audience by limiting its access in certain ways.
